The Story of Virginia Digital Timeline

The Story of Virginia digital timeline project is made possible through the support of the Teaching with Primary Sources a grant program of the Library of Congress

An interactive timeline utilizing digitized primary sources from the VHS and the Library of Congress, including text, audio, and video that places Virginia’s story within the greater framework of the history of the United States. The timeline is divided into seven sections that follow both the Virginia state Standards of Learning and the national Common Core State Standards.

The Virginia Historical Society is pleased to make a beta version of The Story of Virginia digital timeline available to the public. Teachers and students being the primary audiences for this project, we wanted to make it available for the 2016–17 school year. Please continue to visit and see what’s new, as we will continue to update and improve the timeline over the next several months.
