The Bobby Chandler Internship program is generously supported by the Kip Kephart Foundation. Bobby Chandler Interns are responsible for leading tours of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture long-term exhibition, The Story of Virginia, conducting hands-on workshops for students in the Bluford Classroom and assisting the Educational Services staff with programs for audiences of all ages.
The internship spans two semesters: the fall semester of the internship is unpaid but carries academic credit; during the spring semester a $1,000 stipend is paid out on an hourly basis. Participants must commit to both semesters to be considered for the internship, and they must be available during weekday mornings in the spring. Applicants must be over eighteen, actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university, and have access to reliable transportation to the museum. Applicants with knowledge in liberal arts and education are strongly encouraged to apply. The applicant will be required to undergo a background check.
