We are conveniently located at the corner of Kensington Avenue and Boulevard in Richmond’s Museum District. The entrance to our parking lot is off of Kensington Avenue.
We are accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.
- Galleries and Museum Shop: open daily, 10 am to 5 pm
- Library: open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm
- All facilities are closed on New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day
- Please note the Library will be closed on Saturday, April 21 for Virginia History Day. It will reopen at 10am on Monday, April 23.

Suggested admission includes access to all exhibits (including special exhibitions), the library, and museum shop. Additional fees may apply to special events and programs.
* Through the generosity of The Boeing Company, admission is FREE for active duty military and immediate family, and free for retired military, for the duration of the WW1 America special exhibition through July 29, 2018.

Photography Policy
The Virginia Museum of History & Culture encourages non-flash and video photography for personal use unless otherwise specifically prohibited. For the safety of our visitors and collections, tripods and selfie sticks are prohibited. Please note that photography is frequently taken at the Museum for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to appear in these images, please notify Guest Services upon arrival.
Members of the media seeking the opportunity to film within exhibitions space must clear their requests with the Senior Officer for Public Relations and Marketing.
